Good Day,

I will be moving from San Diego to LA within the next weeks. Will probably live in the north part of LA/Woodland Hills.

I have surfed at Toumaline and Swamies in San Diego for some years now and am hoping to find good surf spots in LA.

Any suggestions are apprechiated

Welcome!

A lot of folks would get pretty upset at "spot naming". If you're living up in woodland hills, then you can pick virtually any point break in north LA county. not all of them work all of the time, but you can find information on any of them all around the world wide webinets.

Prepare yourself for crowds and the asshole behavior that come with them. Assholes here come in two forms: 1) the "i don't know what I'm doing" asshole and 2) the "I freak out out on anyone who i think doesn't know what they are doing even if they actually know what they are doing but happened to innocently slightly get in my way" asshole.

The first one isn't a problem when it's less crowded. The second one is less likely to blow his lid when it's less crowded.

And I don't care how great Malibu's wave can be, the parking and every-man-for-himself attitude there always puts me off. It can get trying and dangerous on certain days.

niklas, welcome to the party man. monkey

Where in SD do you live now? I lived down there for quite some time, I miss it often. Except for the traffic. Wacko stuff down there.
What kind of boards do you ride? What kinda waves are you looking for? And you know that Woodland Hills has some of the best dispensaries, right? surprisedevil

I work in Agoura Hills, which is pretty close. Let me know when you are headed up this way I would be more than happy to paddle out with ya.

Thank you for the honest reply. I have read and heard about the "asshole" factor before and was hoping it is not as bad as it sounds. Guess it is.

Thank you

Nah, I wouldn't say it's any worse than San Diego. The same vibes you would get down there around lets say, La Jolla reef you would find in the Nard up here. Both places take care of themselves becuase of heavy localism. In SD you have Swamies and up here we have Malibu. It's pretty similar man... except a little colder. But if you drive north you can find little nuggets that hidden away and will have just a handful of surferes out, if any. It's all Southern California man. Same thing, same attitudes, different zip codes.
The difference is that it's easier to get away from the crowds a little easier the more north you go.
You will be fine.
