Trestles surfers were finally bitch-slapped by Sacramento's budget blues today. Panic began yesterday with the arrival of a toll booth in the parking lot adjacent to Carl's Junior. Then, this morning, fears were confirmed and confusion turned to rage as the price of parking admission in the lot went from zero to $15 bucks overnight.
No word yet on if that toll booth is going to be a permanent fixture, but odds are not good. Surfers in the water were understandably miffed, and much of the lineup discussion surrounded the likelihood of it being violated by unhappy visitors at enormous. Bets were being taken on how long it would be left standing.
The poor sap manning the booth (A.K.A. the man with the world's worst job) spent his morning breaking the bad news to pissed-off surfers. When pressed, his only response was, "Man, I hope it's temporary."
Don't count on it...
Homeowners on nearby streets are bracing for the onslaught.
This will get ugly.

I thought that was a private parking lot and seems crazy the state has control of it now.
HA! 9:30 and I have already 2 texts on my phone from friends calling this bullshit out. 
Was on Wetsand........Didn't drive down there to verify myself. I kind of wish it was $50 for the day. I am smarter then the average bear when it comes to getting around things like that, and having half the people would be worth the efforts

i was told state pass was ok for trestles lot. interesting fact: parking fee has not cut down on crowds, maybe just because everybody thought they could score some empty waves.
i hope they start charging around here for beach parking walk, skate or ride your bike... or... surf at the wavehouse
Dude your state can be a big fag sometimes. I don't hate gay people, even a homosexual would agree with that statement. Shutting down beautiful state parks to save money? Money comes and goes, nature is only beautiful until it's replaced by a strip mall. I will gladly participate in a rebellion should one erupt. I can write one mean letter haha. I was just there on Sunday afternoon and saw the booth. No one in it though. I parked and just walked down and took what was mine.
I hope the state park pass works.
