he's going to the wrong spot though.  i told him the size was dying quick when i was there.
if i'm think what your spot is, it was too stormy and brown water this morning when i checked it.

Speaking of brown water.......Mofo told me, that he was not concerned because he already had his son so no big deal if his junk melts off.  How can you argue with a scientific perspective like that. LOL

different spot than your thinkin, but friggen going off!  i'm sure it was better earlier but no complaints from me.  surfed a putrid rivermouth right pointbreak.  super fun 3-6 ft super low tide lines.  first several waves were backside surfing clinics.  6-7 top-bottom turn combo waves. kinda soft thoough but tons of room to move,  got progressively worse as i was out.  was over it after an hour and half.  checked one other spot - then rushed home to get in the shower - ewww.

lets here it.

looks like carlsbad would have been the place to score.
a spot close to the power-plant was going OFF! (so i was told)

anyhow i surfed amy local "sandy reef" and it was ok but somehow i was never in the right spot and I did better on the smaller insiders then the set waves. and damn those f'ing lobster cages. there were couple of em right where the best peaks were breaking. i don't wanna get tangled up in that stuff, f;ck what a hazard!

Sorry bout the Lobster pots! Normal Hazard this time of year.. Not bad If you can use a float to hold line up with though.... That "Spot" near the Power plant,... I had heard was a mush bomb! but that might have been at a different time in the tide....
I'm chasing secret (get it) Secret Reef's in the Morning...will post my finding the afternoon....
 good offshores to Ya all!!!!

Maaaaannnnn... so much fun yesterday. I'm sore. Matt, it was nipple high on the sets and very clean. I checked out up north first, it was just too chunky and a lot of water moving around... basically it looked like a lot of work for some good sized but "eh" shaped waves. 'Con would have been the call early, but couldn't get the wifey to let me surf all day, just 1/2 a day (some chores to do). So I waited for the tide to drop some in the morning. I feel like I scored man. It was a lot of fun for the first session. From around 10 to 2. then I went in and had a sandwhich & a beer then paddled back out with my buddy who was up here from San Clemente for work reasons. It was good till about 3:30, 4ish then the 70+mph winds started kicking in. So we went and watched the Dogers game... good day. I was going to paddle out this morning but I guess too many beers last night after hours and hours of surfing... I slept through my alarm. surprise
So stoked on my new Zamora thruster btw. Waves were perfect for it. I was so happy. Great board. I can't wait till I have it really dialed in. Gonna bring that one with me to CR this year for sure. Held really nice on some of the steep and deep drops.

Lol, oh well... tonight or tomorrow for sure... I hope everybody got some. Good times. grin

wellenreiter, check out Ian Zamora... his link is on the "people to know & places to go"  (The Degree of Slide/Zamora Blog).
I know there are several peeps on this forum that have his boards.

He does an incredible job, great turn time, and very competative on his pricing. Check out the surfermag.com classifieds, there are usually a couple of his boards for sale.
He saped me a thruster with the bonzer concaves. 6'2". It was a gift from my wife for my 40th birthday last June.

I love the fact that I got a 6'2 thruster for my 40th birthday! No need to get me a wave crutch yet. Still rippin. devil

I checked early at "Secret's" and my old neighborhood,.. but the tide had them swamped out... looked as if potential.... had to wait out some "Honey Do's" the wife set up! waited and waited for NO Shows!!!! I'm seriously Pissed! I figgure the guy's supposed to show to do the work at my house were surfers and went for a Paddle.. but didn't call me to say they weren't showing....( If so they are Dicks!)
They could have called and said Sick or Surfday....crying

So this weekend was somewhat enjoyable. Saturday was fun. A lot of fun! From 11:30 to about 2ish it was good times for sure. Sunday was a bit of a letdown and my buddy and I were really hesitant to paddle out. I'm SOOOO glad we did. We wound up having a great time and I caught at least a dozen good waist high zippers. Good times.

This mornings session was in a classroom full of four year olds. I brought a couple of boards, a bunch of fins, some wetsuits, wax, leashes, etc and talked story with my daughters Pre-K class about surfing!
The kids were delighted and I had them "popping up" on their little surfboards and just having a great time. I saw a couple boys whos eyes lit up when they were holding the surfboards... my little girl was beaming.

My daughter thought she was so cool showing off her little wetsuit and surfboard to all her little friends...

This morning I never got wet, but surfing once again filled my morning with joy.
Stoked. I can't wait to paddle out with my kids. grin

saturday didn't surf too well but was in the water for about 3+ hours in trunks.  wore trunks in ventura county in October.  In my 20+years of surfing i don't think i've EVER worn trunks surfing that late in the season in ventura county.  and it wasn't like i was longboarding either. trunking shortboarding.  sunday didn't really consider going to the beach as the swell was pretty dead and i was tired and sunburnt

I remember trunking it through October into early November one year down in San Diego.. let's hope the water stays warm for another few weeks (though I'd take a good swell in trade any day ;) )

You know what... my phone just shut off. I was pissed when my wife woke me up at 7:50.... I have to be in the office at 8. neutral

I jumped outa the sack and my Marine Corp training kicked in, I was out of the shower, teeth brushed, and in the car by 8... at the office by 8:10. Nobody noticed.

Finnally the coffee started kicking in around 8:30 and I looked. I didn't want to look. I knew it was going to be good. I cried a little. I really wish I was out there by 6:15 this morning.
It was perfect.

Sigh...... tomorrow morning for sure. No doubt. I'm on it. It's my buddies birthday tonight so I need to hit up Ciscos for some beers with the CL crew.

Well, the good news is that whoever is surfing CL tonight, the goon squad will be busy getting their beers on , so there will probably get a lot more waves available. devil

Anybody wanna meet me in the morning, I'm on it. VC? Matt? Brye? You lurking? I'll be at CL around 6ish...
