You got that right! North county, every wave face was like trying to ride 3 faces at once...
I stuck to the sandbars in O'side and found them at best challenging...
I'll prolly go tomorrow but early and to the most protected reef I can find.. for prolly just an hour at most... At least the water is still warm....neutral

Interesting to see/ hear that some of the S.U.P. folks up yer way were stuck outside... I'm beginning to understand why after some of the stuff I've overheard over the last few weeks working down at the beach...
Mostly from folks that are taking up S.U.P. with NO previous surfing experience......Only some small ammount of skateboarding,.. and that this IS The "THING" to do....
  This shit truely worries me!

Sunday was a little better, smaller, but still closed out.  There were actually corners you could get into.  Not nearly as many people being ripped out into the open ocean.  The crowd was bigger, but not out of control.  This morning had a lot of sickness on it...blah.

Man, Sunday was fun.. but I should have driven north. Like, 45 minutes north and joined the gang up in southern SB. I heard it was going off at a certain well known point break.
Instead, I stayed local & had some fun. It was nice, nothing nutso. Just some fun waves, it was just nice being in the water.

I'm a little bitter I didn't make it out this morning though. neutral First day back to work after 11 days off. Waking up at 4:30 was a little more effort than I thought it would be. Which is odd because that was my normal wake up time everyday until I took a couple weeks off. I gotta get back in the swing of things. wink

So much fun this morning! Stoked. I was in the water a hair after 6 and had it to myself for at least a 1/2 hour before the crowds started trickeling in. Man, it was friggin great times!
I caught some really fun waves, outa the water by 7:30 right when the crowds started filling in. Water is starting to cool down a bit up here though. I wore my Pata R2 today for the first time in a few weeks.
They just replaced my suit with a brand new one. Best warrenty in the business, if youi ask me. Mind blowing. I had them replace it with the chest zip. I was burning up by the time I got out of the water.

Good times. Wow it was fun. devil

Wind might not be so bad this evening wellenreiter... give it a couple hours... right around high tide it should be good, lol.

Stoked on this mornings surf as well. Good times. A little smaller than yesterday, a little less consistant, but so clean with the slight offshores. Water felt like it warmed up since yesterday... I was hot when I got out. In around 6, out by 7:30 this morning, nobody in the water with me for the first 1/2 hour... so nice.

Another good day of surf... so satisfied with the surf lately. Nothing absurd or crazy, just enough to keep me stoked every morning. grin

what kind? stomach flue without diarrhea and no puking, just cramps?
that's what our family is fighting right now and i hear the same from other people.

had fun this morning, i was at the right spot at the right time (for once) and it was real fun  for about 1 hour. (funny this last "swell" has been better on the higher tide at my local beach, which usually only works on medium to low tide)

Surf was a fun this morning. I had Matt, and a few others surprise me by showing up bright and early. The waves were "okay", much better than flat, I guess. But wow, where the hell did the crowd come from? The waves were mediocre yet packed like it was going off. I don't get it.

Yesterday was the day.... me and one other guy. That was it. I shared the peak and he was a newb so I was almost exauhsted after an hour from all the little bowls I was grabbing.  I couldn't believe it, nobody around. It was much cleaner than today, had nicer little bowls with much better shape, and about the same size.... but nobody was out there. That rocked.

don't go too far thinking today was okay.  unlike the usual, it went FLATTTTTTTTT about right after you left.  it got really bad FLAT.  like pretty much nothing worth riding.

the "crowd" was pretty annoying this morning.  pretty much all beginners.
guess they too were thinking that the new south swell should have been there?

Yes, it was all newbs it seemed. Except for you, Mark, Jeff, and Stephen there was nobody else out there that I recognized. Pretty frustrating.

Mark was shaking his head and laughing at one kid who was jockeying me on "my" spot. You know where I usually sit, infront of the girder beam and I take all the lefts that come off there. Well this kid comes paddleing up (kid... lol.. he could have been in his mid twenties) and tries to drop in on a wave that I had been waiting on. F that, I just went and "assumed" he was going to go right. I couldn't believe that somebody though that they could just paddle out, sit inside of somebody that was waiting, and just go on the first set wave that came along. I burned him bad. Then as I was leaving he starts paddling for another one that I was going for. I was amazed, and was through. I just backed off, let him go on the closeout that I was in better position for, and waited for him to paddle back out. As soon as he was close I asked him what the hell he was thinking going on my wave... he was like "uhhh... uhhhh.... uhh... I thought you said go"... I couldn't believe it. Friggin rock. I then "nicely" explained to him that the next time he should wait his turn. Little fugger better not show up there for a few mornings...devil maybe he should stick to Sunset, lol.

super fun solo session last night at an unusual reefbreak.  lower tide and the water looked ugly- maybe due to ash??  mix of steep NW, w/sw, and s.  pretty windy but it died about 5:30.  Saw a few sets that were hh but most of my waves were in the 3 ft. range.  The waves were machine like in shape once ya caught them.  It actually took a bit of work to line them up right. I was thinkin the whole time what it might look like this am with the better conditions.  I was pretty stoked.  surfed until dark and came home happy and sleepy.

Picked up this little gem for $100 at Play It Again Sports in Orange. Not a scratch or ding on it and it was freshly waxed. Pretty sweet. I forgot my password so this is now "Yesterday's morning surf report" Unfortunately I'm not ready for the 5 footers on this board. It fully outran me on every drop. Keep in mind I'm still a newb. I need to work my way down from a longboard and I knew that, I just couldn't resist the deal, plus all the boards I truely needed were out of my price range. Nobody wants a non-local around out here so I'm having trouble staying motivated to get back in the water. We'll see what happens but I had a blast even though all I accomplished were a bunch of wipeouts and the occasional belly ride to boost my spirits. Sure as hell beats Texas.
