Flat. Flat, flat, flat. Sigh.... ![]()
Well, I'm heading to AZ on Thursday anyway.... through Saturday, lol. I don't think I could stay longer than that.
I picked a real good time to return to work. Except now I'm working the Inglewood Field in an office that is actually in the production field, pulling old well files and constructing diagrams for some regulatory work, so I can still surf locally on weekends. I figure this gig should hold for few months, until we get all the documentaion settled and I've diagramed all their wells.
That sounds like some hot work. And I don't mean that in the good way. How far inland are you working? Yeah, you did pick a good time as well, it looks like no swell for a little while.
Delores, Delores, Delores(keep chanting)!!
along with another swell maker I'm watching.....

Nope. Not gonna happen. We will never get swell again.

Didja here the shitaboutelnino? Eh? Clickityclickmehere to readallabout it.
MoFo, I'm working in that Shangrala on Slauson and La Cienega- in Baldwin Hills. The famous Inglewood Lease. These wells are fascinating. This is an incredible producing field. When I thumb through the well files I can see the mens faces, some who have been dead for years, who drilled these wells. Wells that were first spuded in the 1920's and recompleted every ten years. The injector wells and the waterflood project which took off in the 80's to stimulate the old producers and is still a big part of producing this field. I'm seeing the entire lease, all that crude pooled up in the Vicker sand lenses along the Inglewood Fault- with my geologists x-ray vision. I'll never be able to drive from Inglewood to Culver City again without being awestruck by the enormouty of it. A real piece of history. It's fantastic.
Drilling is the World's Greatest Sport.
I'm not looking at any rocks though, just going over the well histories.
Not sure how long I can last, I'm not used to being in the office environment. It's a different culture. I'm used to being at the well with my nose in the hole.
I'm starting to not dig this gig. Might not stick it out.
Well, I got a bunch of the admin stuff pulled so I get paid. They play fast and loose but they gots deep pockets...Guess I'll be going back Monday bright and early to sort out the redrill..who knew what and when did they know it 50 years ago stuff.
I hope we pick up that SE this weekend.

Friggin stoked. I've only been able to surf it twice so far. It needs to be at least waist high and good for it to light up.
Anything less than that & I might as well have out a fishy.
I cant wait for good surf.
Surf, surf, surf. Sooooo... hmmmm... you think it will be packed on Saturday? ![]()
I hope there are lots of fun waves for dayz. I am headed to the crowded spots during the week and this weekend, I'll be working the walls for corners. If the waves are headhigh or better - I'm not too worried about the crowds. Hopefully, there are lots of rips and currents too!

saturday will be interesting with the size and crowds.
not expecting much from this swell as i'm guessing it'll be pretty closed out at semi-crowded spots while the super crowded spots will be pretty good, but I can't stand crowds so i'll not surf those places.
ecr - i got the disc. thanks!
Yes Matt, yes you will. You will surf somewhere with me on Saturday. And leave your pet swine at home.
fun surf again this morning.
my local spot really delivered the last couple of days maybe chest high and pretty consistent.
Wildlife is crazy, saw a very big leopard shark, huge harbor seal (thought it was a baby whale) and tons of sting rays.
i would not be surprised if there was a shark incident soon. just too much going on down there. must be the water temp fluctuations over the last month.
Yeah, we had a big ol ray cruising around the point where I surf a couple weeks ago. It was huge compared to ones we see around there.
This morning was fun. I caught three waves that were just the bees knees. Caught all three going frontside (lefts) and each one started out super slow then picked up speed towards the inside sections and then had fun zippery little grinders to end it. What a hoot. So much fun. I can't wait for work to be over today so I can get back out there. I am still replaying one wave I had over and over again, stoking me to get back out there in a hurry. Damn it was fun. A little cold too, wtf? I had on my 3/2 "custom" (I took some scissors to the sleeves and made a full suit into a 3/2 short/full and it worked "wonderfully") and I was a little chilly. Friggin Ventucky is still at 63. Dude. It's July, almost August. Is the water going to warm up this year for those of us north of Malizoo?
Wifey has been alerted of swell!![]()
Surfed with the boys last night - Mofo, Matt & Brye. fun session even though the waves were a little lacking. I saw everyone getting good rides and the heckling was in effect at times. I was laughing hard coming down the line with Mofo floating over the shoulder flippin the bird and hollering. good times to start off the swell.
People can be really stupid.
There were at least 300 people at Sunset today, and maybe 150 at Topanga.
And I was catching BEAUTIFUL WAVES with only 4 other people at my spot. By the way, I did not find this spot through friends or on the internet. You can see it from the road for crying out loud.
