After work session...nice conditions, but my surfing was terrible.  Sets were overhead, the paddle out sucked...all mixed up..mother ocean telling me to go screw myself.  It took me forever to get out for some reason.  Once I got out, I managed to get pitched on my first wave...ear first landing and I am think..I wonder how my poo I just injected into my brain.   Other waves were ok.  It started to get bumpy towards sunset so I went in.  I should have taken out the swallow tail...silly me.

Hardly any crowd...which was nice.

This morning looked fun but REALLY cold.  Tide was a bit high, so I went to work instead of paddling out.  It will get good around...well now and 9am.
Ocean was glassy...winds were calm...good day to surf if you can get there and find parking.

Too funny wooha.
Surf was very fun this morning for the first hour. From 6 to 7 I was alone. Not another soul in the water for as far as I could see. Waist high and fun off the point, very good times.
Great morning. I can't believe how I scored and nobody around. I had the same thing happen to me on Saturday. I scored a very popular (ECR... Matt... you know where... you too Shred) and localized break for almost an hour midday (on a Saturday!!!) with barely anybody else out.
Incredible. Who says you can't score uncrowded good waves in SoCow? grin

so we are talking waaaay backed off.  If anyone is thinking about surfing southbay tomorrow, don't bother until the tide goes down, and even then...it has really backed off.

tonight was dolphin soup.  the pod was in full force...i was more worried about getting smashed by a leaping dolphin than I was the chest high sets coming in.  It was really bumpy...but worth the paddle out just to be in the water with the pod.

Took a walk this eve at the beach. There were waves!

I forgot what a wave looked like.

The morning looked good, really good.  I was just too exhausted from last night to paddle out.  Last night was really good...2 hour session until it was too dark to see the waves coming in.  The new swell was coming in and I was picking off waves left and right.  Took the swallow tail out again...why I went away from that board is beyond me.  I love that board.

Umm...yeah, this morning was super fun.  Combo swell kept the lineup thin.  A lot of people didn't make the paddle out.  When the tide got right, things really got good.  I caught a couple of way over my head sets that eventually closed out and worked the hell out of me.  The conditions were great...wind was calm and the ocean was glassy.  Went in when the tide got too low.

I got worked today, but I managed to get some great waves in the process.  Nap time.

Porto completely blew this morning.  Was out for a couple of hours because I didn't have anything better to do.  It's 3:30 and winds are still calm and the water is still pretty glassy, but the low tide and lack of swell isn't doing anyone any favors.

I managed to take a blow to the head today...left a nice gash behind my ear...no good.

Oy. Surf was very, very fun yesterday. So I was pumped when I heard/read that it was going to be even better today.
They lie.
It was MUCH better yesterday. Although it was still waaaay better than not surfing at all.
I still caught a handful, but some mushy mushy waves they were.
Well...
maybe tomorrow morning. I am willing to bet that the masses will also be out.
Where is the pic from Surfcast for today?
I saw 'em at CL this morning a lil after 6.

Porto was flat and sick this morning...I was going to surf, but it didn't look good at all.  There were A LOT of people out...just sitting there...waiting on nada.

Hopefully it will pick up this afternoon.

Well.... this morning was a serious let down. I have no idea why I am not suprised.
I caught a couple... three exactly.. decent rides, but a lot of paddling around to score those few rides.
The odd part of this morning... the water had about well over 20 plus heads floating around the lineup and I did not recognize ONE person in the entire lineup. I usually recognize at least 25% of the lineup at County in the morning. Sometimes more. I didn't recognize one face. I was paddling all over the place looking, checking it out. I couldn't believe it. It felt odd.

No doubt.  I was holding out hope that February might help take the edge off this horrible winter - nope.  Done. Pau.  It is officially spring in my book now closing the door on a poor winter season.  I tried my best yesterday to get waves and ended up settling for 2 occasionally 3 foot rights.  Albeit, they were clean and lining up, it was small.  surfed a spot I haven't surfed since last winter. whatever.

i think i get Oct08 and Oct07 confused.  both were really good.
just hope we get some good windswells this spring and least some consistency for the summer and no afternoon winds.  last summer it was always blown out in the afternoon.
