Matt's stolen boards?

yes it did help. DID that is. Shshsh from the 'bber, who's from SB, had the best progress with the thief. the problem was the thief never gave us his phone# or would commit to a time & place to meet. we'd give him a phone# to call about arranging something, but he'd never call and now hasn't responded to follow up emails.

I was thinking maybe from someone way outta the area , like say Monterey?

he did respond to another 'bber from Hawaii. he played it as if he was landing at LAX and not bringing any boards with him. but again....no phone call. it looks like the thief got spooked. i probably got too anxious have a lot of people contact him. but what did the dip shit expect listing a brand new board for $100

Matt, just keep an eye out man. I'm sure he wants to sell them. Did you email the Play it again chain and any second chance type sports shops pics of your boards? I mean I know it would take a few hours but it could be worth it. I would also email those pics to all the surf shops in the area. The guy obviously lives in that area.

While we wait here's my stolen board story.

A few years ago I was staying at my then GF's place in Salinas. I came out in the morning to go to the beach & low and behold, my 9'SCFG was gone!
My GF's 10 year old son told me of some kid he knew who was a theif, I didn't follow up of coarse. (I couldn't imagine going up to this kids parents& accusing him cause of a rumer from a 10year old)
Well we broke up maybe a mounth after that.A few weeks after breaking upp I get a call from her saying my board showed up on her lawn!
I guess it was that kid & his parents finally caught him I guess!

yes, i've been to the play it agains. they do check with the cops when someone comes in selling stuff to make sure it's not stolen. there's no play it agains in West LA where the thief is it. closets ones are in the valley or torrance. surf shops sell on consignment so this guy would have to have a lot of balls to put the board for sell in a shop.
what really sucks is that this guy is maybe within a 2 mile radius of me, kind of like winddog's story. in one email he said he was in Brentwood, which i'm right next too. i even road my mountain bike around a couple times cruzing apartments and alley ways looking to see if he slipped up and left the boards exposed on a balcony.
going to give it one last email in a couple days in the hopes he lets his guard down.

talk about injustice, i only got to ride it think 4 times before it was stolen.

Matt, if it makes you feel any better I'm really pissed about your boards.
We work for the man so we can buy ourselves some material happiness. In fact it isn't material, it's far more sacred. Wave riding vehicles are our sacred magic carpets. It's like breaking into a monastery to steel idols or sacred ornaments.

But even without going that philosophical, it's just downright unfair.

Mine is mine. Period.

thanks zen, to make it even worse the blue one was glassed by my brother as a christmas & b-day present. the resin tint he did was pretty trick too.

It's a huge coincidence because I was also born December 30, and I also have a beautiful board my brother got me for my b-day + christmas athough he didn't glass it, he just paid for it. My cherished Stewart. The best longboard I've ever had.

as a replacement to the blue board, TFD told me this 6'4" is available. pretty much the same dimensions as the blue one i had, but a bonzer. was thinking i'd get another trifin, but GH does make a REALLY good board.

yeah and they can't go verticle. i'll wait and see what TFD says the price is. thinking of not getting it as that blue board was a really good template. and i've got a cool idea about the color i want.

That board looks niiiice. I'm all about personalizing the glass. I mean, if you're gonna pay top dollar why not get exactly what you want. That was my problem with a shaper whom I will not name. He was doing everything he could to sell me a board he already glassed. He TRIED to tell me that he JUST had it glassed after we last spoke and drew some pinlines on it which he thinks I'll like.

Yeah, I have to get the board shipped half way around the world, pay tax twice and I can't even get something close to what I want.

Anyways, if you can afford it get EXACTLY what you want and settle for no less. You deserve it after your ordeal!
